What is a party without decorations? While decorations can range from the simple to the very elaborate (and expensive), the one thing all decorations have in common is that they require planning and thought.
Here are some tips to get your creative juices flowing:
Plan your party decorations according to the party layout that you have in mind. You can focus on decorations for the performance area (or cake cutting area), dining table, and general areas. The activities area and food area should be kept relatively free of decorations to allow children and guests to play or get their food in a hazard-free environment.
Decorations you can get include: banners, streamers, balloons and centerpieces. Allow your birthday child to get involved by letting him/her choose the colours of the balloons, or even, if you wish, the theme of the party decorations. It is after all, his/her special day!
The backdrop is a very important
If you are having an entertainer at the party, don't have him perform in front of an entrance or doorway as this will distract from the show badly. People moving in and out from these entrances will cause too much of a distraction and disrupt the show.
Ensure there is a performing space prepared, ideally, this space should be in front of a wall with your birthday banner or main decorations. Also ensure that there is ample space for children to sit and watch the show or move around if the entertainer is playing interactive games. As a rough guide, a space of about 10ft x 10ft should be sufficient for the performer to entertain up to 20 children.
You might also need to prepare additional space/ tables/ chairs for additional activities like if you have a face painter, caricature artist or balloon twister at the party.
If you have any pre-party entertainers such as face-painters or caricature artists, make sure the birthday child is always first in line to get his picture drawn or face painted. If you have hired an entertainer to keep the children entertained before the cake cutting, you can liaise with him/ her when the best time would be during the program to start prepaIf you have hired an entertainer, such as party hosts from Singapore Birthday Party Company , you can announce to the kids that a "special guest" will be coming. Kids are naturally curious but if they see everything that the entertainer has prepared, there wouldn't be any surprises left.
At any party, there will always be late-comers. If some kids should arrive half way through an entertainer's show, the host parents should welcome them, receive the gifts on behalf of the birthday kid and quickly allow the child to join the show.
Magicians, specifically those specializing in children audiences, are common choices as children birthday party entertainers as most often think all children love magic. However, a magician is not actually a good choice for children that are too young, specifically children aged 3 years and below. Engaging a good professional entertainer for your child’s birthday party is almost a sure-fire way of making the party an enjoyable and successful one. But what type of entertainer fits the bill?
The most important consideration is the age of your birthday child. If he/she is between 1- 3 years old, you may want to keep things simple. Children of this age are generally unpredictable and there is no cookie-cutter formula on choosing the right entertainer for children of this age. Children of this age tend to have shorter attention spans and varied temperaments.
On the other hand, kids aged 9 -12 consider themselves all grown up and usually scoff at what they consider “kiddy” forms of entertainment. This makes hiring an entertainer for kids in this age group easier and more worthwhile for all.
When it comes to hiring the entertainer, the many people think of hiring a clown. Clowns are bright, colourful and perform weird tricks that make people laugh right? Well, be careful before deciding to hire a clown for your kid. Coulrophobia or fear of clowns is not uncommon in some kids (and even grown-ups). To them the bright colours and weird clown makeup just add up to a really scary experience.
We recommend that instead of a clown, there are some other popular choices of entertainers to consider for your kid’s birthday party.
